Comfort ZonesOver the last couple of weeks I've had the privilege of working with some very entrepreneurial startups. These guys have a real difference in how they look at things, and it can only be described as a different comfort zone.
Should you accept the status quo?
Most business owners have their own comfort zone. They accept what they have done before as achievable. They might set 'big hairy audacious goals'... but whilst they are categorised as BHAG's, they are unachievable. Simply because they have been denoted as such.
What do these startups do differently?
They have no pre-conditioned ideas.
No baggage from previous funding allocated by traditional lenders, such as high street banks.
No baggage from accountants telling them that their business can only be valued based on historic EBITDA, rather than the real value.
No baggage from being beaten up in business, several times over.
They understand the market, they project for growth not maintenance, they build a compelling story, and then they engage others in their journey.
I've learned a hell of a lot from these guys. I think any of us can.
