Why blog?

Blogging seems so outdated. So 2004. Why blog?

For me, it's simple. Every social platform has its own structure (140 characters...). Its own #nuances. And its own etiquette... Here, the structure and content of posts can fit my own voice. Whether that's a good thing or not is a different matter!

There's also the longevity of blog posts versus social media updates.  It would take a very dedicated researcher quite some time to dig through their Twitter news feed to find something even two days old. These posts are instead stored in one place, categorised, and searchable. It gives me the chance to air my views, and who knows, maybe one day my children or grandchildren will look through these posts to find out more about me and what I did.

So that's why I blog.
